Josh is joined by Jordan Duncan, a coordinator at the Museum of Puppetry Arts and a long time Muppets fan. They discuss the recent cancellation of The Muppets on television and ask, “What’s Next for the Muppets?” As Disney grows, it seems like every division continues to be a homerun. Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and so on, have all found their stride and are major successes for Disney, but The Muppets franchise continues to feel lost without knowing where to really go with it. Is it a nostalgia act? Can it be modern? Is it for adults? Is it for children? We try to answer all of these questions and more!
Be sure to follow Jordan on Twitter (@JordanGhastly) or on Instagram to chat more about Muppets, Jim Henson, or the Puppetry Arts in general.
Josh is joined by James Carter from the Creepy Kingdom podcast this week to talk about his newest venture, a full length documentary about the Haunted Mansion attraction and it’s loyal and unique fan base. James has just started filming and will be looking to put out the film at the beginning of next year. He is on the show to promote and gain some buzz around the project.
If you are interested in donating to the film’s Kickstarter, make sure to do so as there are some great perks involved. Also be sure to check out FoolishMortalsDoc.com for all of the news around the film!
Josh is joined by friend Peter Armado to discuss Disney’s ongoing relationship with the LGBT community. From Disney’s involvement in Georgia politics to a possible gay Star Wars character. They strive to cover everything Disney has done for the community or has yet to do and what the LGBT’s relationship is like with Disney in the 21st Century.
On Modern Mouse Radio #99 we created a contest as a celebration of our 100th episode. The winner of that contest was going to be appearing on an “Armchair Imagineers” episode of MMR and that day has come! Josh Combs is a Southern California resident and he’s a frequent visitor to Disneyland. He’s also an aspiring artist (Check out his Clothing Company and Instagram) as well as a tech and science guy, so it seems fitting that we redesign Disneyland’s Tomorrowland.
Armchair Imagineers is our signature series on Modern Mouse Radio and takes three peoples ideas to reimagine a Disney park or hotel or space. There are no limits to what we can do with money or ideas, but we do have to work within the space and keep guests of the park in mind, hopefully creating a fun experience.
Love our ideas? Hate our ideas? Have your own ideas? We would love to hear them and what they are all about! Leave a comment below or on any of our social media pages!
This week, Dave and Mike from Radio Harambe join Josh to answer one specific question we have, “How does Animal Kingdom keep animals as it’s main focus while it changes and grows?” To answer the question we have to look at what is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and how Disney is marketing the park. Things like conservation, fear of bad publicity, what the park guest wants, and finding ways to create new animal experiences all come up in order to answer our question.
Josh is joined by Dave Tuppers this week. Dave is a Hawaiian local and a frequent visitor to Disney’s Aulani resort. He’s seen both the good and bad that have come with the resort. He talks about what the resort is all about and why he loves it, but what is the future of these types of hotel only resorts for Disney? Josh and Dave theorize and dream up some hotel only resorts worldwide and think what it could accomplish for the business side of Disney.
If you have any questions about Aulani, Dave has a ton of knowledge. You can get a hold of him on Twitter and he’s always willing to answer questions.
Beyond talking Disney, Josh loves talking music so if Josh has the chance to combine the two he will! This week Josh interviews Peter Alden about his new album full of Disney covers done in a early 1950s Rock and Roll style. Before being an Elvis impersonator and overall musician dedicating his time to early rock and roll, he worked at Florida’s Magic Kingdom. He too has now combined his two loves of Disney and music with this new album called “Kingdom Classics”.
If you are interested in checking out what Pete is up to, find everything he is doing at PeterAldenEntertainment.com or you can find his album on CDBaby or iTunes where you can sample and purchase “Kingdom Classics”.
