Disney Trip Planning: Watch Disney Movies Before Your Trip
Each Disney Park destination has its share of movie-themed rides. Before you plan your trip, let me give you a little tip: Look up which of these rides are in your particular Disney destination, then watch some of the movies those rides are based on. For example, Peter Pan’s Flight dark ride is in 4 of the parks: Disneyland, Magic Kingdom in WDW, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris! You vey well may get much more out of these rides if you’ve caught up on the magic of that particular movie by watching it before hand! This same reason applies to themed areas, such as the New Fantasyland Expansion in Walt Disney World and Cars Land in Disney’s California Adventure.
Dark rides based on Disney films often follow a summarized version of the film’s storyline. Not only will you be able to recall specific scenes throughout the rides from the movies, it will help fill in the blanks to parts from the films the Disney Imagineers chose to leave out! It paves the way for a lot of those – “Remember that!? That was my favorite scene!”
Other rides and shows, like Toy Story Midway Mania, Festival of the Lion King, or the Mad Tea Party, feature beloved characters from the film rather than relive the same storyline. To refresh your memory of the film by giving it another watch will surely get you even more excited when certain characters pop up!
Another reason it is a wonderful thing to catch up on Disney movies, is it simply gets you PUMPED to go to the parks! Once you start watching Cinderella (especially if you are going to visit Walt Disney World) your excitement-jitters will start surging through you as the thought of seeing the castle and characters leaves you yearning to leave for your vacation RIGHT NOW! It’s one thing to see a Disney character walking around the parks
, but it’s another to have watched a Disney film and get that sense of celebrity when you spot them! Lord knows I’ve fanned my face after spotting Aladdin walking around and nearly fainted! (okay… not really!)
Some of my favorite Disney movies to watch before a trip include: The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Up, Wall-E, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Aladdin, The Jungle Book, and oh so much more! What are some of yours?
